The Kiliya Shipbuilding – Ship repair Yard was established in August 29, 1944. For today it is the major enterprise with high productive and intellectual potential capable to solve the various tasks and objects to build and repair the vessels, mechanical engineering, manufacturing of goods that are much in demand.
  The main directions of the productive activity of the Yard are shipbuilding covering 80 % and ship repair covering 20 %.
  The convenient and good geographical position of the Yard enables to develop shipbuilding. The Yard is situated on the Danube River which freezes very rare. The Kiliya Shipbuilding – Ship repair Yard is located within 47 km from the Black   Sea and 2000 km separate it from the Main – Rhein Canal.
  The Yard has the possibility to manufacture its production all the year round and immediately dispatch its production directly to its clients and customers.  
The largest workshop of the Yard is shipbuilding where the assembling and welding of the hulls of the building vessels are performed. It is equipped with the modern gas-cutting, welding, transport and crane equipment. The specialists of the workshop have almost the 20-years experience of building of different types of the vessels. 
  Mechanical workshop. Here one can see the fulfillment of the repair works and adjustment of the propulsion plants, machineries, propellers and other technical means. The workshop is equipped with all necessary equipment to fulfill fitting, assembling, surfacing and other works.
  The complex dock workshop plays the special role in the shipbuilding – ship repair manufacturing. Design and construction of the vessel and her longevity depend on the works performed at this workshop. Preparation of the hull and its painting are the main kinds of the works executed at the complex dock workshop. Lately the complex of technical means to fulfill these works is replenished by the bottom and board cleaning equipment, sandblast machines, equipment to apply varnish-and-paint materials and other modern equipment.
Besides the abovementioned workshops the Yard has at its disposal the minor but not the less important production basis. One can mention about the wiring, pipeline, woodworking boxes, oxygen plant, foundry, forge shop, chemical and radiologic laboratory, ecological monitoring laboratory and radiometric laboratory.
  All these enable to fulfill the closed technological cycle without any assistance and attraction of the subcontractors. 
  Different types of the services rendered, their quality and reliability are the main characteristics of any enterprise manufacturing its goods. Taking this into consideration the Yard obtained the recognition of the most reliable enterprise among those who were on business terms with the Yard. 
  Nowadays, the customers of the Yard are the “Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company” and the shipping companies of Germany, the Netherlands, France, Russia, Belgium, Greece and Finland. To meet the requirements of the market for different types of self-propelled and non-propelled vessels the reconstruction of the slip started at the Yard (for lifting and lowering of the vessels) the cargo capacity of which makes up 1500tons and it allows to launch the vessels the length of which is about 110 meters and more.
  The shipbuilding at the Yard is based on the quality, term and price. All this is combined by the team of specialists of the Yard as well as successfully is developed without attraction of the government assistance.
  The quality and term are connected with the purchase of the new equipment, development of the new technologies, reconstruction of the main stocks, replacement of the welding equipment and switch to the computer design of all parts and components of the hulls’ constructions.
  The Kiliya Shipbuilding – Ship repair Yard is planning to increase the building of the vessels and to cope with these tasks and aims the Yard is faced with the question to establish the new working places. That’s why the Yard is preparing its own personnel staff, training the specialists at the higher educational institutions at the expense of the enterprise and gets ready the specialists at the special training courses of the Yard. The Yard preserved the good practice of the past. 
In 1996 the Yard obtained the quality certificate of the German Lloyd and the Classification Society “Bureau Veritas”. All shipbuilding production is certified by the Shipping Registry of Ukraine and the Russian Maritime Registry of Shipping. During 65 years of the activity of the Yard more than 1000 units of the fleet were built. During the independence of Ukraine there were built 155 vessels’ hulls and 67 barges of the type SL, SLG, EURO-TAF, FNG, RTS. Within these years more than 1100 units of the fleet were repaired. 

For this high quality of manufacturing of the production delivered abroad the Yard was recognized at the international level and was awarded by the prizes such as “For the best trade mark”, “For quality and prestige”, the “Golden prize of America”, the “Arch of Europe”, the “Quality”, the “Golden star” and so on.
